Claude Ake was a prominent Nigerian political scientist and philosopher who served as the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Port Harcourt and founded the Centre for Advanced Social Science (CASS). He is widely recognized for his critical theories on African political economy, his critique of Western social science as a form of imperialism, and his advocacy for people-centered development and democracy in Africa.
