Sir W. Arthur Lewis was a Saint Lucian economist and professor at Princeton University and the University of Manchester, widely regarded as a founder of modern development economics. He is best known for developing the 'dual-sector model' (or Lewis model) and became the first Black person to win the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 1979.
